when i type "msconfig" what is absolutely necessary under the start up tab? i have so much stuff there and its slowing down my startup.. thanks..

It is much easier to tell what doesn't need to be there then what has to be there.

If you post the list, we can tell you what you can remove.

you dont need anything in there actually.

leave systray [you will get hassles while in things like device manager without systray].

leave scanreg [allows scanreg after a bad shutdown].

and if you have a firewall or antivirus that you like to have run all the time, then leave that too.

other than that, its all bloated crap.
especially realtray, findfast & office startup, alos things like scheduling agent, taskmonitor you probably dont use or need.

you don't need "loadpowerprofile"...its useless.
do you really need ICQ to run on startup?...no.

dump everything except scanreg and systray and an a/v or firewall [if you use].
