What do I look for in a DVD-RW? First time buyer.

just make sure that it reads/writes to + and - disks.

many people recomend the plextor DVDRW's. I've never used one myself, but I own an MSI DVDRW and have yet to have any problems with it.

No it's an old model that only writes DVD-R/RW at 4x/2x. Toshiba recently announced the
SD-R5272 that burns both DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW at 8x/4x.
