This might be a newbie question but this is the first custom pc i have build. I bought a 1.4 Thunderbird oem and im not sure if i need to buy a heatsink and fan or not. The site said "w/o fan" seems if the specify the fan they would mention the heatsink also right? Let me know.
P.S.> Don't complain about a warranty and all the stuff you get with retail....im worried about oem cause i bought one. 🙂

Most of the time, with OEM CPU and other hardware purchases, you get a real short warranty period. Usually around 14-30 days for a OEM CPU is typical.

agreed no fan for you!!! that means you've got to find a good hsf to cool that bad boy. I recommend the fop its cheap and good. if you've got the cash go for the swiftech line of hsf. check out anandtech's hsf article to learn more.

I would've recommended you to buy the retail cause you get the hsf with it, so even if you do dish out 20 bucks more its still worth it cause the fan cools just fine, plus you get 3 year warranty, but I'm not mad at you. 🙂
