What do I do?

The other day I rent Changing Lanes and This is Spinal Tap. I am almost positive I returned both movies the night they were due. However, I get a call last night saying that This Is Spinal Tap is three days late. While I'm 99.9% sure I returned it I decided to do a quick sweep of the house to see if I had left it around. Nada. Can't find it anywhere. I know for sure I went there that night, because I remember going and because I know Changing Lanes was returned. So here's my dilemma: there's no way I can prove that I took the video back; however it is not showing up in their system, or in their DVD drawer. What do I do? Like I said, I'm 99.9% sure I returned it, I mean logically it wouldn't make since for me to go and take only one movie back when I KNEW there were two due. I wouldn't just take one back. I plan on calling soon but I wanted some advice first.

umm. well you either pay, or tell them to suck it, and be forced to buy videos at another store. 😛

call them and explain the situation. Something similar happened to me at the library once and they found it a week later 😛

explain the situation to them. if they give you a hard time, ask to speak to a manager. it's very possible the people at the vid store could have messed up on their end.

you could argue your way out of it, if you make a large enough fuss about it, and its a large place(blockbuster, hollywood video) they will probably let it slide.

**update**(not that anyone cares, but...)
Just called, and after doing a second check in their inventory, they found it. Needless to say, I'm relieved.

call back and say, i dont appreciate the false and unfounded accusations on your part....so....FREE RENTAL?!??!?! 😀

they just made a mistake, it's no biggie to me. It was at Family Video, not at Blockbuster....had it been the other way around I would have probably given them hell, but Family Video is a lot cheaper, the people are generally nicer, and they have $1 DVD's...and a pron section...ahha

Yeah....just talk to them about it. Chances are since it's a family place someone might have already rented it out again. Let them know that you returned it and you're SURE of it. Don't back down or let them think that you're not 100% sure. But be nice and civil about it...
