I have an older computer that I was putting some Arctic silver III on. It is a Compaq with an AMD 1ghz processor. When I was taking off the heatsink I was having alot of trouble and I think i pushed to hard because I broke off one of the arms on the mobo that holds the heatsink on. What do I do to fix it? I still have the piece that came off. Do I glue it back on? Get something else and put on there or what. Thanks

Option 1: If you only broke off one of the three clips, find a replacement hsf that has a three point hold down. There are several available, but I can't remember the exact ones.

Option 2: If you have holes in the motherboard, get a bolt on hsf. (Not so likely with a Compaq.)

Option 3: New motherboard. Interestingly enough, if you shop around this isn't all that much more expensive than buying a high end hsf.
