So I got a ticket a little while ago..

I wait patiently for the courtesy notice to come..it never does. I sit here right now then wondering when it's going to come, glance at my ticket, and realize my court appearance is in 7 hours (Monday morning, 8:30 a.m.) :-O

I panic, go to the court website to try to pay it off, website's down currently:

http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/

Call the court to see if I can pay it..only to find out it won't be accessible until 5 am.

What am I supposed to do then?? Can I wake up early tomorrow and just pay through the phone, or do I have to show up to court since it's so late?

Just show up at the courthouse, goto the traffic ticket office, pay the clerk, get a receipt, go home.

Will I have to do this before the court appearance, or does the time really matter?

I doubt they'll issue a bench warrant for your arrest if you don't show up to pay your ticket before your court appearance. The court appearance on your ticket is only if you decide to dispute the ticket anyways.

And what are they supposed to think if you don't pay your ticket prior to court and then don't show up for the court appearance? If you don't pay you ticket, the court thinks you're going to show up for court to dispute. When you don't show up for court, it's assumed that you're just blowing off the ticket and not going to pay.

The one time I had to go to traffic court (to testify in an accident.....I got hit by a kid while I was walking in a crosswalk......totally didn't make her day that day, or her dad's day or her insurance co's day in the end...hehe), the judge issued bench warrants for every person who hadn't paid and hadn't shown up. Go pay your ticket or go to court......be a drag to be arrested for just a ticket.

the date on the ticket doesn't mean anything.

when you go to court they'll reschedule you.

Whew, so I woke up early today (7:00) to try to settle this ticket thing with the court by calling them, went through the machine, but needed them to change the address the ticket was sent to..meaning I had to wait until 8 before an operator could handle that request. I go back to sleep then and wake up a little later to do this.

When I called again I was #21 on the queue..I want about 10 minutes to talk to an operator, and my address is changed. I then proceed to the part where I pay with a CC..but I can't use mine until Wednesday (another story behind that), so I try to use my roommate's, but that's denied by the system. I then try to talk to an operator again, and this time I'm #68 in the queue list..I wait about 30 minutes and explain my situation, they can't do anything about it..and give me a 2-month extension to pay my ticket.

I think I'm going to end up fighting this one anyway, so the extension ought to work in my advantage as the officer will probably forget all that's happened in a few months :)
