The weekend of September 28-Oct 1, 2006, I will be in Kansas City, MO with two friends and am wondering what we should do on Friday night and all day and night on Saturday.

I know KC is known for BBQ, so a suggestion for the "best" BBQ would be nice, too.

FYI, all three of us are professionals, in our late-30's and married (Note: married to women).

What area are you staying at? There are a lot of good BBQ places but depending on what area of town you are in there may be closer ones. But Jack Stack, Arthur Bryants & Oklahoma Joe's are definately some good renowned places to try out. If you wanna go out for some drinks the Plaza is a nice place (lots of good restaraunts too), or if you're looking for more of a party scene the Westport area is a good choice too. Our downtown has some stuff going on, but can be pretty dead on the weekends and nights in most areas.

Gates BBQ but it is in a rough area.
Hallmark cards? I took a private tour there once because a old pal worked there.
Independence, MO for a tour of Truman's home.

Just gabbing because I don't drink or party. I am more of a family type guy...

BBQ = Gates

how about Harley Davidson Factory Tour ??

On saturday morning .. dont miss: Arabia Steamboat Museum and the market there ...

friday night - 18th and Vine district ... jazz ... american jazz museum ... blue room

if into baseball: Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

if into museums - dont miss Nelson Atkins - highly recommended ...

a stroll at the country club plaza / Liberty Memorial and Museum of World War One

catch a KU or KSU football game or if staying sunday catch a chiefs game - its the loudest stadium in NFL - that kinda translates into college teams too ...

HTH! let me know if you have any other questions ... have a wonderful trip ..

STAY AWAY FROM KC MASTERPIECE BBQ.

If you're near the Plaza, try Frondizi's for some great Italian. If you can make it down to the North River area go to Garozzo's.

If you are into NASCAR, the Nextel races are at Kansas Speedway that weekend, but the tickets might be tough to get. There is a KC Chiefs-49ers game that weekend, but I'm assuming you will be leaving sometime Sunday and may not make that.

Actually, the whole reason we are going is for the 49ers' game.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I need a few more non-food related ideas.

Thanks.

We are looking for either. If I had a choice, probably something historical for Saturday day and entertainment after dinner.
