what do i do if someone's dog always poops on my lawn?

this is a very classic question that ive always wondered about. im always finding dog crap on my front lawn and ahoy, this morning there was a lump of the dropping sitting there. well, i see the dog sometimes, but i dont know what to do then to just shoo it away. what do i do? i dont know whos dog it is and i cant watch my lawn 24-7. isnt there kind of law that protects me from this abuse? im sick of cleaning it up.

Find out who the dog belongs to and start placing the dog poop in their yard.

You may want to put this sign in your yard:

HERE IT LIES, COLD AND HARD
THE LAST DAMN DOG
THAT POOPED IN MY YARD

You can still see this sign in Newport Beach, CA in one of the "jewell" streets near the waterfront.

Don't just put it in the yard though. Smear it on car windows, door handles, etc.

Take it, put it in a pretty bag, and put it on the guilty party's door step, ring the bell......etc!

I had this problem a year ago. My next door neighbor simply wouldnt curb their dog from crappin in a certain part of my front lawn. Solution: Bought 3 small cans of ground red pepper powder, and spread it all over the area that their dog would walk and sniff when he went out to crap. Surprise Surprise when their dog started to stay far far away from the spot where he'd previously relieved himself.

6oz Can of McCormicks ground red pepper powder.
Invest in a few cans and spead it around the area the dog goes.

Cruel and effective without permanently injuring their pet.

that sounds like a good idea. spreading pepper. i dont want to like attack the dog or anything or electricfy my grass because harming the animal seems like itd be illegal, even if its on my lawn. if i can keep the dog away without harming it, good.

Pretty funny...I was going to recommend putting vinegar into a super soaker and shooting the mutt in nose and a$$. Dogs hate vinegar and this would not do permanent damage. If you don't believe me, offer your dog a dill pickle and see what it does...:D
