What do I do...I think my phone is broken..

Hello, I've been on a cingular contract for about 1.5 years. Just recently, I've been getting no service literally anywhere. I think something must be wrong with my phone since my friends with cingular get perfect coverage. So how does it work when you need a new phone but are still in a contract? All the hot deals I have seen are for new customers. What do you reccomend I do?
