What do I do? Either UCLA lost my watch or the Post Office messed up!

Hi, anyone with experience on this sort of thing? I live in the dorms, so all the mail goes to the front desk, they log it and then give us a slip if we have a package. So, I buy a watch, they ship it Monday, confirmation says that it was delivered Tuesday morning, but the front desk has no record of it in the log or anything. The package was insured, but since it says it was delivered, I am guessing they won't allow a claim? Dang, it was a 200 dollar watch too. =(

How was it shipped? If it was UPS they can tell you who signed for it. From there you can find out where the hell it went.

I never trusted the people who worked the desk in Hedrick, I always used to send my packages home, then pick them up when I went back. Sorry about that. USPS is gonna say it was delivered, may not do anything about it. Maybe talk to the Desk Supervisor about it, if you can find out if anyone signed for it.

late.

The kids at the dorm's front desk are bad news...order from BMG and see if you get your CD's if you don't believe me.

If it says it was delivered, find the day/time....ask the dorm supervisor and raise all hell. That really sucks, I personally hate how college kids think they can get away with all the stuff they pull (assuming they allow kids to work at the desk like most colleges do).

Just for the record, I've sold probably $3-4,000 on eb@y for 60-70 items and used only usps, and I've never had any problems with lost mail. But I did have my CD's stolen by the front desk people my freshman year! (and my friend's CD's too)

Your friend was stolen!?! You should really tell the police. We can't do much about it.

Hey stoner, no fair. You edited!

hey man i work at the front desk.

i live over in sunset and its the supervisors that handle all the packages.

there is a possibility it might have been delivered to another hall. the mailman has regularly four buckets of mail for us and multiply by 5 halls.

plus the bags of packages.

see if you can get a name on who signed for it and you can track it down from there

Okay, here's what I did. I went to Sproul, assuming it was mailed to 350 De Neve instead of 250, not there. Got a mean person at Covel and wouldn't let me check. Checked the logs like 8 times at Hedrick, no package. I was initialed by Suzan I believe, but what could've happened was that USPS didn't have it in the stack, and she just signed for the whole stack? I don't know what to do! Dispute the charge on my credit card?

Just to say I've never had a problem with the front desk before...and not the USPS either. The reason I didn't ship this home was because I didn't want my parents finding out that I bought it...=)

i must've gotten lucky. i received my ps2. those foolios in sunset must be kicking themselves right now... ask USPS to show you the delivery confirmation for YOUR package and see who it was signed by. and go on from there.

in that case, the USPS should be held liable. they should be a little bit more thorough than that. ignorance does not excuse them.

actually residents are not authorized to look through package logs as a security issue.

I guess I am going to talk to the supervisor, since as far as the Post Office is concerned, it's been delivered. That sucks, hopefully it was lost and will get returned to the store instead. Hey Freesia, is there any policy to claim the package or anything like that? Thanks.
