Ok, I've put this together about two weeks ago and I have my floppy(connected to the MB) and the IBM HD(master) Zip(slave) on channel 1 and my TDK burner(master) and my Creative CD-ROM(slave) on channel 2. I thought this would be best, because I didn't want a slow device on my HD. However, trying to burn a cd last night and the 'puter said my CD-ROM should not be on the same channel as my burner. What do I do?

Having a slow device and a hard drive on one channel will not slow down the hard drive. For example, if your CD-ROM is ATA33 and your hard drive is ATA100, the drive will still run at the higher setting since ATA100 is backwards compatible with your ATA33 CD-ROM preventing the need to slow everything down.

Having said that, just swap your Creative CD-ROM with the Zip Drive. That way, the burner will always have its own channel unless you plan on copying something direct from the zip drive to the burner.
