What do hotels do with all that soap

Ok so I was on a business trip this past weekend. Every day the cleaning staff would take my soap and replace it with a brand new bar. What's up with that? There was nothing wrong with the old one.

I think they recycle it (more professionally than the other 2 posts above suggest )
