What do foreigners do for a savory option on toast?

The two main options for toast are peanut butter and vegemite.

Depending if you're after something sweet or savory.

There are other sweet options like honey or jam, but I'd say most toast would be eaten with peanut butter or veg.

Now, considering vegemite is only popular here, I was wondering what you guys put on toast when you want something no sweet? Exluding cheese and shit. Or am I missing a popular spread?

Cause vegemite is awsome on toast. I couldn't imagine living without that option.

Vegemite is a disgusting blob of awful that you aussies use to trick the rest of the world. I see though your games... "try this" they say, "it's huge in aussie land". Then I do, and it's the worst fucking thing I've ever tasted.

But seriously, it's just an aquired taste. Once you get used to it it's fantastic.

Shit, beer tastes awful the first time you have it. As do alot of other great things.

There are levels of awful, and beer tastes like the nectar of the gods compared to the vomit that is Vegemite

tapenades (artichoke, olives, etc), hummus, guacamole, thin slice of lardo, roasted garlic butter, labneh (or haydari), muhamara, pesto, drizzle of high quality oil and balsamic, etc. You can use any type of dip or spread.

Seriously? Beer tasted freaking wonderful the first time I had it. It was hot as heck, we'd been working in the yard, and my dad had an ice cold can and let me have a pull. It was the best damn thing I'd every tasted... right at that time anyway.

Never heard of it, so I don't really need anything to replace it. I usually put peanut butter and jam. Sometimes just jam or just peanut butter, depends on what I feel like. Sometimes I use nutella as well. I've seen people put ketchup, too.

This was kinda what I was getting at.

There are a whole bunch of people that have never experienced the savory toast spread.

I feel bad for those people. :(

Yeah, if you live in Australia, and the closest you get to good beer is Tsingtao. If you live in a real place inhabited by humans, you might get your first taste of beer on something like Black Butte Porter or Shakespeare Stout or even McMenamins' Ruby Ale. If your first taste of beer is awful, your friends are horrible people and you've been lied to.
