What do 3-6 year olds like?

I ask this because tomorrow I interview for a job teachign 3-6 year olds to ski. From what I gather it's half ski lessons half day care. It's the place where rich parents drop their kids so they can enjoy a day on the mountain. I really want this job, and I need some advice. I have never worked with kids this young and really don't have much of a clue on how to deal with them.

any ATers with kids have any tips/advice? I need to keep kids occupied for at least 4 hours.

they have a short attention span

so try 30 minutes of skiing, then a half hour of Disney DVD/Movie, then 30 minutes of skiing, then some snow ball fight time and/or building a snow man, then go get some hot chocolate

They will get tired of skiing in 15 minutes. ..And as soon as you take off your ski boots they will want to go skiing again

3-4 year olds sometimes can't talk very well. Additionally some children in that age range will need help in the potty and may not be entirely potty trained.

One person will be skiing, two other helpers will be needed to manage the kids who don't want to ski or need to go potty, or just crashed and are wailing their little heads off.

Wooohohohohohoooo....good luck with that!

I have a 6 year old- you can't keep their interest for more than 5 minutes. My best advice is to break everything up into games that last a few minutes each. Otherwise, they're going to pwn you and push you down the hill.

Just tell them you used to be "head diaper changer" at Neverland ranch and you'll be a shoe in. 🙂

I'd say look for another job... W.C. Fields wasn't kidding around when he said not to work with kids or animals. 😉

P.S. What's up with all these "I have an interview" threads? 😕 Is this a parody thing I missed the memo on?

Well Ideally I want to teach 14-15 year olds advanced skiing but that position seems to be filled so this is the next best thing. The children are supposed to be potty trained and willing, although I am not so sure on that willing part.

What are these silly "dumb head" and "dumb dumb" jokes? Something like "Jimmy is dumb head!" or....

But yeah, I really have an interview tomorrow for this position, it's at 10:30am.

I totally got the job. Thanks for the replies.
Heh, they asked me how a lesson might go (which I thought was unfair because I just told them that I had never had any teaching experience) and I told them I would turn it into a little game involving their interestes. +1 for ATOT helping me pass an interview!

Although at the end of the interview it seemed like they were going to hire me no matter what I said. I learned later that they had to let alot of people go because of poor sales and are now rehiring becuase business picked up.
