I recently broke my SD200 (was getting bored with it anyways) and narrowed it down to the FX9 and S500. I like how the S500 is tiny and seems to have a really fast focus and shot to shot times seem really awesome. The FX9 has optical image stabilization which is nice for those quick moments and night time, but is a bit slower where you might miss those quick moments. I've been reading all the reviews i can find on both, but haven't found any good direct comparisons. What do you guys think?

When I think P&S cameras, I don't think Panasonic and Casio...

how about Fuji (the F11 or Z2)? I'm wondering why you wouldn't consider then because I am.

"If the Exilim EX-S500's photo quality was better I'd have no problem recommending it. However, it consistently disappointed me where other cameras do not. While it has a lot of potential, your money would be better spent on another camera."

Canon SD450 or Fuji F10

And when is the Fuji F11 coming out? Worth upgrading from an F10?

The Olympus C7000 Ultra Zoom and the Olympus C7070 are 2 of the best digital camera's ive ever seen, and they dont melt your wallet on the way out of the checkout line.

I think it depends on if you want the manual control. Another P&S with usable ISO 1600 and manual controls does not exist at the moment. I think I am going to seriously consider the F11 when I upgrade my P&S.

There is nothing wrong with Panasonic and Casio's current line of digital P&S. Please remove yourself from Canon's nads, because that's what I know you are getting at.

My sister just got it and I opened it for her :) The Casio is a beast :). Picture quality is subpar though, but the form factor makes up for it :)

Well, this was taken with the Z750, the model above what the OP is thinking about getting. It has a pentax lens and seems to be pretty good. I certainly have been hugely happy witht he quality of the images, the versatility, battery life, size and speed. Granted it's not as good as an SLR, but for a point and shoot (with optional manual settings) I think it's worth every penny/cent.

Note: the image has been shrunken considerably to put it on the net - the original is 4.4Mb.
