These are the choices I have came down to. I really like the big zoom of the Fuji. I hear the quality of the Canon cannot be beat. Price wise I am leaning to the 2800. Feature wise the A70 or 3800 looks good.
Help me pick one.

Thanks

I like the Fuji 3800, but if you can get a great deal on the 2800, then I would do that. 2 megapixels vs. 3 megapixels is probably not worth the extra money. (The 3800 captures sound with video, if that matters.)

What would be considered a great deal? I saw some got it on clearance for $149.xx. Of course I couldn't find that deal. Would $250 from Dell with the 64meg card and reader be a good deal? For the 2800.

If you're deciding between the Fuji Finepix 2800 and 3800, go for the 3800. Why? Because that's what I have! J/k. I have 3800...it's a nice camera, but the gripes that I have about it are:

1) No light on the camera to illuminate subjects in a darker setting
2) Only 1 ISO setting
3) Wish I could get better macro shots although it takes some pretty good macro shots

I'm looking into getting the Finepix S602

The A70 beats all of them....
Better quality pics and more features

But I really like the 6x optical zoom.

That is really the reason I wanna upgrade cams. I want to be able to take more nature photos and get closer shots at ballgames and the like.

If you're more interested in zoom, why not look at the Olympus C700 or C720?

I have the Fuji 2650 which is really good for what I need. It's got quite a few features for a smaller camera. Yesterday, I acquired the Olympus C-720 which I haven't had time to play with other than check out the 8x optical zoom. I'll play with it sometime. Not gonna complain about it, no matter what is does or doesn't do though. I got it for free.

I used to have the 2800, and my wife just bought me the A60. The 6x optical is, for lack of a better word, AWESOME. The Fuji's are very easy to use, but the Canon definitely has a better pic quality.

On the 3800 and A70, kind of a toss up. More manual controls, and slightly better picture quality vs the big zoom, and an overall sweet cam. Friend of mine has the 3800. Feels great in the hand, and handles with ease. Prices on the xD cards is dropping as well. Amazing how xD is out not even a year and is already waaaay cheaper than the ghey Memory Sticks!!!

IMHO, if looking at the 2mp, decide between the big zoom, or more manual controls. Difference in picture quality isn't going to be that noticable if you're printing smaller (4x6) pics.

On the 3mp, if you're doing a lot of larger prints, the Canon will have better performance. If you're still going with smaller prints, and don't need all the manual controls, you simply can't beat the price/performance/features of the 3800. Makes an EXCELLENT point'n'shoot.

My 2650 has a max resolution of 1600x1200 and will do 8x10 pictures.

Just buy it from somewhere with a good return/exchange policy and check em out. Find out which one you like best.

You're not gonna lose on any of those cams.

Okay. I really think anything less that 6x zoom is out. I would keep the camera I have if I were just going to another 3x optical. I don't care how much better people think the pics look. It is all about the zoom and lower cost :D

You should also consider the Olympus C-720, C-730 or C-740.

Get it at Staples if they have it there. Price match it and get the extended warranty. In a few years or so, if you don't like it no more, just use the extended warranty and they will give you full credit for how much you paid for (less the extended warranty) and use that to buy a new camera

I'm considering going after this same deal.

I bought the Nikon Coolpix 2000 simply because I couldn't beat the price ($130 after rebate). I'm seriously considering selling it and going for the "big zoom".
