what difference between athlon xp and mobile athlon xp?

and what processor speed is the best for overclocking well and stable for abit nf7-S motherboard ..

thanks

The difference is simple, mobile athlon xps run at the same speed as standard ones, but at less voltage, this means that they overclock better. SImply put, a mobile athlon xp overclocks like crazy.

The mobile athlon xp 2600+ overclocks the best of the bunch. when the 2800 mobile comes out, that may change.

because you're a junior member, you won't get flamed...

but next time, remember to use the search button... this topic has been covered 1 too many times...

the main difference between these two processors is the fact that the mobile runs use lower voltages for the same clockspeed...

mobile 2500+'s use 1.45 volts at 1.83 ghz while desktop 2500+'s use 1.65 volts at 1.83 ghz....

so performance wise its best to get the mobile athlon xp....this wil be a cpu desktop computer for games, internet, grahics, etc

what ram speed u recomend for a mobile athlon xp and if i get the abit NF7-S motherboard for overclocking?

Well, some good PC3200 would be fine... maybe instead of opting for something like PC3700 or PC4000, go with some low latency (2-2-2) PC3200. Even on a 200 Mhz FSB, any nForce2 motherboard will be able to set the multliplier to 12.5, which will give you 2.5 Ghz. I have my Muskin PC3500 Level 1 running 211 Mhz right now in sync with the bus. 211x11.5 and it's been running Prime 95 for a few hours now (can't remember exactly when I started it).

Actually the mobile XP2500 uses 1.45 volts at 1.86 Ghz (133x14)

133 x 14 is 2400+ mobile, which I have. 133 x 15 = 2.00 ( 2500+) 133 x 16 = 2.13 ghz (2600+)
