What died on my computer?

When I turn it on the hard drive spins, both dvd roms light up, but my monitor doesn't get activated.

What died?

Cpu? Motherboard? Video Card?

Thanks in advance

umm, a little more info is needed. when was the last time your computer worked? did you do anything? did you try connecting it to another monitor? just asking off the bat "what's wrong with my computer" isn't going to let us help you.

also, plz post your specs.

I leave my computer on 24/7.

When I went to bed it worked when I woke up it didn't.

My monitor works because I hooked my laptop up to it to test it.

The computer is one I built almost 2 years ago

Do you have a spare video card you could pop in for testing purposes? Does your case have a speaker so you can hear beep codes if necessary?

Check that all of the PSU connections are tight in their connectors. Only other thing I could think of is switching the monitor input from one port on the video card to the other.

maybe it was on sleep mode? Some components have problems with sleep mode. Turning off the machine, unplugging the power, resetting the bios, and reseating the mobo battery usually does the trick.
Good luck
