I always wanted to race cars when I was young.

I manage a gentleman's club now.

I wanted to get married and have 100 kids so I can have 100 friends and no one can say no to being my friend.

When I was really young (< 10), I wanted to be an architect. Not sure why. That really never developed.

Shortly after that, I wanted to be a classical pianist and tennis pro. I was well on my way to doing that until some issues left me to focus on something else. I still play the piano to this day at least, though my tennis game has suffered.

After that, all I really wanted to be was an entrepreneur/business owner of some kind doing something I enjoyed. That's what I do now.

What I found was that I never really "found" anything new that I wanted to be, but instead things I always did just got shuffled to the forefront. I'm happy with where things went, though I'd still do some things differently if I had the chance.

...so close.

Blend the two. I've seen so many horrid implementations in my career that I can only assume that the person creating them must have had a great sense of humor.

As a kid, I always wanted to be a special effect makeup artist. The person that makes people look like monsters and zombies.

I ended up being an accountant.

Chef or comedian.
Of course, at that age (when I wanted to be something when I grew up) I had no idea I would be able to have a career involving computers.
Now I'm a programmer.

I don't recall ever imagining "what will I be?" as a child. The future loomed, but I didn't deal with it by generating an idea of what I wanted to be other than my aspiration to succeed academically, i.e. at the university.

Judge when I was really little, then Veterinarian once I got a little older (8ish). Even started my undergrad with an eye on going to Vet school, but then calculus and O-chem happened and I decided to shift into accounting.

Wanted to be a pilot/astronaut
Tried to join the Navy for pilot program but with my bad eyesight, best they could promise was I'd be a radar guy but they can put me in the back of a copter. Went to school and got an aeronautical degree instead. Found out aeronautical engineering isn't the same as flying - whodathunk so much math/science goes into soaring like a bird?
Now working in IT. Man, talk about missing the mark. Whenever I see plane overhead or watch shuttle launch on TV *tear*

As a kid, I dreamt of soldier, cop or fireman. I am officially too blind for the latter 2.

As a highschooler, I thought about being a civil engineer. Lo and behold, I got my degree for it.

Now, I just finished college and am unemployed. I'm trying to get into shape to make option number 1 feasible. No, they won't let me be on the frontlines, but I can combine kid-dream with highschool/realist-dream into a technical job.
