what did you pay for your 1st pentium 3 and what was it?

I remember my parents paid $1500 for a 533MHz Celeron, I then replaced that CPU with a P3 600MHz, this was 5 years ago, I think...

My mom took a picture of my baby brother 9 years ago at Staples, sitting in front of a PC. Thought it was a cute moment.

If you inspect the picture closely, you can see the PC spec sheet stand which reads as follows:
Hewlett Packard
Pentium 100 Mhz (33% faster than 66Mhz!)
16 DIMM RAM

$3,999.

Jesus Christ. That kind of money gets you top of the line PC + a kickass flatpanel. That's not even factoring in how much a dolloar was worth FAR more back 9 years ago. (Probably today's $4000 assuming 3% compounding inflation)

i remember going thru computer shopper and seeing the most ghetto systems for $799.
its really amazing how cheap they actually have become.
i wonder if anyone has done a study avg desktop pc 1995 to avg desktop pc 2005+accounting for inflation.

I traded in a shiatload of games for my 1st cdrw, which i think was 179.00 at eb on sale.
newegg...i knew about computer shopper and compuplus online.

CPU ? It was the 667 "flip chip". I had the II-350 for a long time before that.
I couldnt even begin to imagine what it cost back then.

Never had a P3, or a P2 for that matter. I went from a 486-DX2 66mhz to a 75mhz "Blue Lightning", to a Cyrix 686, then to AMD chips (K5 133, K6/2 400, Duron 800, Athlon XP 1800+), then onto my random Intel chips.

Was an upgrade from a P2-333 to a P3-733, forgotten how much I've paid... but it was a small fortune 😉

man that really would have helped, I remember I got the upgrade bug and soon after upgraded to a Geforce 256 and Toshiba DVD drive. I think I also wasted some money on a SCSI card and burner too. No wonder I was so poor in college.

the only intel processor I've ever used was a 100 MHz processor way back in the early/mid 90's.

I've used amd for as long as I've been building my own boxes.

Pentium 3 933MHZ
256MB RAM
60GB HDD
Geforce 2

I think this was back in 2000 and the system was around $2500.

not sure. I know it was a P3-500MHz Slot. It was an upgrade to our $5000 Pentium 90, SCSI beast. We had 16MB of RAM!!!

p3 700/100, in a system with a geforce 256, 20 gb harddrive, and 768 mb ram (came with 256 minimum, put the rest in myself) and a 19" fd trinitron monitor for about $2200 or so, iirc. 440BX chipset ftw!
