What did you get for a graduation gift?

My dad gave me an Emergency card that consisted of a 3 x 5 notecard with a dime and a quarter taped to it. I still have it laying around somewhere, but I don't know if thats even enough for a phone call anymore.

i didnt graduate from HS, but my mom bought me a pair of work boots anyway. from college she bought me whatever stereo i wanted for my house. i was 30, married and had 3 kids. i got me a killer studio A/V amp receiver and a good set of 100w speakers with a 200w powered sub woofer. still works great, even 7 years later.

i have no idea what ill do for my kids when they graduate.


edit: oh, cant forget the 40 grand debt im still paying off. thats the biggest one of all.

HS: Nothing.
College: A ten-year old car. This was very helpful, 'cause I had no money, big time student loans, and was doing the job search thing, which is much easier with a car. Thanks mom! I drove that car for eight years.

College: 10 years of school loans and a slap in the face saying welcome to the real world.

College: actually my dad was pretty emotional about it. None of my sisters went to college or even graduated HS. I think only one other even graduated HS out of all my cousins. but the only thing i got was a Beer and chicken wings (took me out for dinner)

I get told at the time, you have , 6 nephew and nieces that like the best gift ever.

been hearing that for past 9 years, just increase of number of them when needed for birthdays and christmas. 10 years ago I was like I got socks or something like that(belt/tshirt,etc) and was gee thanks. Now I'll gladly take those things.

Oh and woo hoo, I'm a platinum member. took me nearly 6 years to get to 2000 posts.

College: Nothing. I wouldn't have wanted anything anyway.

Parents took my high school graduation as a chance to throw a small party, no real "gift" like a physical item though. I'd be very surprised if I got anything at all for college, they're paying for it and so that's more than enough.

College - I haven't graduated yet (2 months!) but I think my mom wants to buy me a new camera, which is much appreciated considering my old FM2 is on its last legs.
