I got a message from my fiance asking if I was up for something a little different for Valentine's night.
Well...that certainly is different. We went and I dressed up as a zombie. And not really meaning to...I won the zombie competition! I am now the proud owner of a George Romero signed "Diary of the Dead" movie poster.

**** Movie Review, no spoilers ****
To review this movie, I want first to remind everyone about Romero's first zombie flick, Night of the Living Dead. George was documentary film making who decided to create not only a scary movie but one with a bit of social commentary, given that the 196o's had a lot of social upheaval.
Now everyone knows this, George takes himself to task. Kinda like Cloverfield, the movie asks, "what would the night of the living dead look like if it happened now, with the Internet, YouTube and everyone having the opportunity to record what is going on.
The movie follows a group of documentary studies students as they first were making their own horror film (like what Romero himself did) to then recording their travels as the dead are coming back to life.
I liked it. It was self referential, yet it knew that and still made some statements about how we live our lives today. And some really tense, scary moments. And yes, gore, gore, gore!
Okay - one spoiler ************************** you are warned!
