ok.. the summer heat was really getting to my geforce2 gts. so i decided to take it out and put some AS3 on it. I followed the instructions on the site and put the HS back on. Push the pow button. NOTHING. inspected the card. checked to see if it was seated right. Still no post.

Can somebody tell me what could have happened.....

2nd problem. AS paste won't come off chip... even after repeated rubbings of alcohol... it seems to resist the alcohol

plz help. i can't stand using my mx400🙁

did you keep yourself grounded while working on your card? you might have fried it with a static charge. that's the only other thing i can think of right now if you did no physical damage to the GPU while removing and replacing the HS.

Are you sure the heatsink is completely seated on the core - have the clips/retention mechanism become as secure as they were orginally? If the heatsink moves around quite a bit then somethings not quite right. Check you plugged the fan back in as well.

Also, check that you have not put too much paste on the core as this can have detrimental effects. Optimally, the writing on the core should be just faintly visible.

When I did this procedure with my GTS a few months ago it too failed to boot up again at first. At the second go all was well again......!
