What did I do? Blue Screen and locked out as Administrator - includes a workaround

I got a the Blue Screen of Death (Win-7) for the first time in many years while online and after reboot found I was logged in as “User” and was unable to run my Avira Anti-Virus. I tried to switch to administrator by Switch User à Ctrl-Alt-Delete, No administrator account appeared, only User account.

Unable to go in that way, I took another approach. I went in like this: Start Menu -> Right Click My Computer -> Select Manage -> In Computer Management Console, I clicked on Local Users and Groups -> On right side I clicked Users Folder to display Users, Administrator -> Right clicked More actions in Administrator -> Chose Properties -> I unchecked account is disabled in the Administrator Properties Box and clicked OK -> Now I’m an Administrator and I’m running my Avira Anti-Virus because I’m uncertain why I got the Blue Screen and found myself without an Administrator Account.

I’m the only one that uses my computers and I’m always on as Administrator. Among other things, it makes me feel powerful to open a folder.

My question is I thought I was already the Admin. with all the rights that pertain to that, What did I do? I have every intention of putting the check back in account is disabled in the Administrator Properties Box.

I’ve got several computers and I don’t use passwords. I’m well acquainted with password retrieval programs because I used to use a password originally. What did I do and what is the normal way to log on as administrator? Usually I just boot up and go.

BTW: Anything I should check regarding The Blue Screen of Death in my ThinkPad X201 Laptop running Win7?

BTW #2 Superantispyware and my Avira complete system scan shows nothing unusual/ infected.

I don't think it was anything you did. User accounts get corrupted all the time. I would download and run WhoCrashed and see what it tells you bout your blue screen.

Whocrashed sounds good. Naturally I'm wondering why? I ran Superantispyware and Avira Anti-Virus and both were negative. I reversed my fix and checked "account is disabled" in the Administrators Properties box. I'm now no longer an admin. How do I switch back to an admin the normal way?

Thanks bunches.

Run Whocrashed so you can narrow down the problem. Drivers or hardware are the likely culprits for BSODs.

Go back in mange | local users and groups | users and right click your username. Select properties | member of and chose admin.
