Scott Rolen returns to Philadelphia after his trade. Thousands of Emily Post etiquette books are angrily hurled in his direction by irate fans. OK, just kidding on that last one.

Some of my favorite excerpts from the article:
The All-Star third baseman received venomous boos from the crowd of 31,117 at Veterans Stadium each time he came to the plate.

Though there were a few Rolen supporters in the crowd, several fans brought anti-Rolen banners to the stadium. One read: "Scotty's crying towel.'' Another said: "Beer: $5; Ticket: $10; Rolen: Worthless.''

After Rolen fouled off the first pitch from Wolf, fans yelled at the fan who caught the ball to throw it back. Rolen then fouled an 0-2 pitch and a fan threw it back on the field, drawing loud cheers.

I've heard them boo when there were 50,000 fans,'' said Phillies manager Larry Bowa, a member of Philadelphia's only championship team in 1980. "Mike Schmidt got booed and he's a Hall of Famer.

We're just friendly, down home folk here. :)

A game at Wrigley isn't a game unless the crowd unanimously boos something or other :). And ALL non-Cub balls are thrown back... on penalty of beating.

Cheered as Michael Irvin lay on the ground with temporary paralysis
Threw batteries at J.D. Drew
Booed Mike Schmidt, the greatest 3rd basemen ever....
Booed Kobe Bryant, who grew up outside Philly

Thats still left a sour image of Philly in my mind. Never like Irvin, but that guy could've been paralyzed for good and everyone seemed to hope exactly for that..... Classless indeed.

Philly fans are truly the lowest of the low. They pioneered the "courtroom in the stadium" to deal with all the neanderthals running loose.
