What did everyone think about the movie Contact?

Not bad, but not really that good. Just kinda "meh." It kept my attention for a few hours, though.

Didn't like the casting of Matthew in that part. I didn't believe there was any chemistry.

I'm always annoyed with movies like that and shows like the X-Files where:

Look, aliens!
Whoohoo, I've got pictures!
Whoops, I exposed the film, dropped the camera under a truck and then an aligator swallowed it!
Now I'll know there are aliens, but I'll never be able to prove it to anyone else. D'oh!

It's more interesting to have a series like Stargate SG-1 where the world does change and is affected by the events of the episode or movie.

I think you're getting Contact mixed up with Deep Impact (guy spots a meteor coming, hops in Jeep to alert someone, crashes and dies).
