Now I'm not sure what's worse, CNN or USA Today. When the USA Today site changed (really, all Gannett sites) I threw up in my mouth and never went back. Looks like CNN will be the same. At least the CNN/Money page appears to be untouched (for now).

Probably the result of some new hire, with an MBA in Communications,...

:hmm:

In all seriousness though; it's a web site. They change. Many times. It's normal and expected.

:awe:

Oh, while we're at it, not liking the new Amazon.com front page either.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I think cnn.com will no longer be a go-to site for news for me.

Not seeing the issue here. The previous page was way too information-dense which made navigation a complete mess. They may have swung too far in the other direction with this redesign but it's no worse than the previous design overall. I don't visit CNN.com regularly so maybe there's something else I'm missing that is pissing people off?

My idea of a horrible redesign is something like the before and after versions of ChicagoTribune.com and SFGate.com. The Tribune's redesign literally ended my use of that news source, while SFGate's redesign isn't far behind.

They thought a new look for the new year would be impressive for us readers to see. I like how they didn't go out of their way to warn people either. They figured the surprise of it all would have a more positive impact. Behold the new cnn, glory, modern glory.

Actually I jumped on the CNN bash wagon just because you guys started it. Screw you guys. I like the new site. Its like trying to learn a new language. Hard to read, but kinda fun for a second.

Well, I dumped MSNBC when they switched and started going to CNN instead. When I went there today I saw their change and dumped them too (removed from Favorites.)

Guess I'll give Reuters a try tomorrow.

What I can't believe is how many people who claim to use CNN as a news source either didn't notice it until today, or hadn't noticed at all. Who doesn't read the news on a daily basis?

I check in on events about 3-5 times per week, more if I'm having to wait around a lot. I realize there's a huge gulf between that and watching the news every night for 2+ hours, but something's wrong with the people that do that. There's just not that much that happens on most days, so after 30 minutes (at most) the talking heads are either repeating themselves, speculating, talking about something pointless like local petty crime, telling us what to think, or some combination of those.

Those of us with families who were enjoying the Holidays maybe?

I figured this would happen eventually because of the whole tablet thing, surprised it did not happen sooner. The layout is still sort of the same but everything is huge, rather annoying

I might have to check out this Reuters site everyone is talking about

What if they could design a site that when your user agent specified you are on a computer a web based website would load. And when a user agent from a tablet loads the site a tablet version shows up.

Ugh, just checked it out for the first time on my phone. Seems a mobile version of the page doesn't exist anymore and what's up there now is award winning craptastic.

CNN is less a news organization and has become more of a left leaning editorial network with lots of reality shows. There's another thread on this so I wont go much further here, but suffice to say they are no longer on my list of daily visits. Sad!

Not that Fox or MSNBC offers much that's better so where to go. BBC seems the best choice.

Al Jazeera, Euronews, and BBC are much better than the American cable news networks. I used to watch CNN at one point, but it became unwatchable over the past few years.

just checked it out on the desktop for the first time. all that is missing is for it to continually recycle crap so you can never get to the end of the page.
