What Did Apple Do To Shuffle With iTunes 8?

I never bothered with playlists very much in the past. I have hours and hours of music on my iPhone and the Shuffle feature usually kept me pretty happy. Up until iTunes 8 and Genius.

I never bothered using Genius, but the Shuffle feature all of a sudden sucks complete and utter ass. It's like Anti-Genius, picking songs that absolutely do NOT go together. And it always tries to play the same damned ones. On several different occasions when using Shuffle of late, I kept going back to my song list and hitting Shuffle again, and odds are the song would be one of a group of twenty songs that it always seems to pick from, and so would the next several.

Is Apple trying to coerce people into using Genius so they can collect the data of what people are listening to and make a few pennies selling it? Yes, they don't have it tied to your name and account when they store it, but that doesn't mean they can't sell it. I don't care either way, I am just pissed that Shuffle is absolutely worthless now. It's worse than the Random setting on the WinAmp of old.

Shuffle is stupid anyhow IMO. I just go and put on whatever I feel like listening to and switch the songs when I feel like something else.

I never got much into Shuffle, but I have to say that I love the new Genius feature. It seems to hit the mood music right on the money for me.
