What determines whether you get Social Security deducted from paycheck?

because sometimes they take off some for SS, and some times they don't. i don't understand why this changes.

Nope, none of us will. If it's any consolation, over the last... six, seven years of earning a steady paycheck, I've probably paid about ~4000 into SS... I won't get to see any of it.

It's the way it works, deal, and get on with your life. Someday, when you and I are in power, we will create a system that makes sense.

Nope, none of us will. If it's any consolation, over the last... six, seven years of earning a steady paycheck, I've probably paid about ~4000 into SS... I won't get to see any of it.
