what determines whether or not you get a scar?

you can get cuts/scrapes/etc without scaring, right?

so what determines whether or not it does turn into a scar?

A scar is simply a wound that did not heal smoothly. If you cut your finger open with a very very sharp knive that makes an extremely clean cut, you probably won't be able to tell that you were cut after it heals.

depends o how deep it is and how smooth the wound is, also going across the grain of you skin makes the scar more also

Actually, it depends on how much movements will the affected area endure, that and what you eat has a lot to do with it.

On the moving part or the food part?

Anyhoo, I think you can figure out the moving part. As for food, I think certain foods would boost the immune system and give it proper ingredients for the healing process; other foods do the opposite, I know seafood in general doesn't help healings very well. (this is knowledge that's passed down for thousands of years, in many Asian cultures)

There's also a genetic factor. Some people scar easily, whereas others have skin which rarely produces noticable scars.
