What degree is related closest to this field..

any ideas? the closest thing i've found is banking and finance, but is there any speciality degree associated with this field?
 
Try accounting? That's all I can think of.

I know PhD physicists (specializing in high energy) make up a sizable fraction of investment bankers as well (no, that is not a joke, it is actually the truth). I'm sure any degree where you analyze tons of data would be useful.

This is absolutely correct. I have a PhD in EE and currently working at Goldman Sachs.

I would suggest the finance/economics route.
