Ok i'm trying to take the temps down in my room. The 2000+ i've been running on the 8rda+ has been at about 47-49 C all winter. The temps are fine for the winter because of the cold climate and it pretty much gave me free heating. But with summer coming up, i don't think that it'll be acceptable at all to have that temps, especially with the 100+ F we get here in Sac.

I want to go to a 1700+ Thoroughbred B and OC it to at least where the 2000+ is at. Can i expect it to run alot cooler or what? i think i've got decent cooling in my case, with two 80mm fans and a GC68 (i suppose i could get a new cooler, but i'd rather upgrade the processor if they run cooler).

Any suggestions?

is the 2000+ oced?
try undervolting it and see how far you can get without sacrificing stability

what thermal paste did you use?

then by all means undervolt
go to 1.6v and see if it will post
then run prime95 for a few hours (or overnite) and then go lower and lowe until prime95 fails within 12hrs (thats why overnite works best)

My 2000 Palomino runs regularly at 45-47 idle and up to 55 load, and there are no problems. It is a bit hot, but it should run fine at that, and even a bit higher, since stock cooling tends to give you something like those temps.
