What DDR3 speed do I need for an i7 920 at stock speeds?

What is the multiplier for the i7 920, and what FSB is used to get to 2.66GHz?

At stock:

BCLK: 133
Multi: 20x

133x20 = 2660MHz

Stock memory speed is 1066MHz I believe.

Yes, but you should definitely raise the speed to 1333 as some performance gains are noticed and the price difference is negligible. At stock FSB speeds you can choose DDR3 speeds from 1066 to 1600 or higher depending on the motherboard.

yeah 1066 for sure but it would be better to get something like 1600.

i7 has no FSB.
QPI is 133Mhz (x20 multi / x21 multi)
RAM speed is 800/1066Mhz officially. Many boards allow you to select the ram multiplier, allowing 1333/1600/1867/etcMhz. If you OC to a 200 bus speed, DDR3-1600 and the lowest latency you can get at <=1.64v is the best option.
