What credit cards to apply for?

I turned 18 on September 12th, and my Equifax credit score is 684.

I'm wondering what if any major credit cards I should apply for?

With this score, can I just wait for the preapprovals to come in, or will I need to seek credit?

Are you in college? If not your going to have a harder time getting a card..once your in college, you are a shoe-in for any student card, and some non-student ones..

Get a secured Visa or MasterCard. That way you can guarantee get it without having to apply. Most banks will allow you to put down say, $100.00 and you get a $500.00 credit limit. Starting out with a secured card is really good. Don't FUBAR your credit because it means a lot and will come back to haunt you in the long run. Good luck. I'm sure RossMan will be here shortly to greet you as wel.

I'm just a high school student, but I'm not attending this semester.

Can I get a student card?

Blue for Students.

Might as well try... I applied for Blue for Students at the end of my college life and got the real deal Blue. I RUB it... pretty much the only card I use if I have a choice.

Any other suggestions?

I don't wanna take an inquiry if I know there's not going to be a benefit.
