What creates racism?

Honestly.

I am going to try an explain something, so please do not judge, for i do not consider myself racist AT ALL!

I grew up in a public school system mixed in with many minority students, i have been friends with many african americans and i know many middle eastern people the same age as myself and i see no difference in them at all besides religious preferrence and perhaps social status. I grew up as an upper middle income child, i work full time durring the summer and attend college for the rest of the year.

However i went to the mall of america today and i was disgusted. All of the minorities i saw that walked the halls of this hell hole of a mall were as we call it "ghetto". They all wore color and pattern coordinated clothing, they all spoke rudementarty english and my god in under an hour me and my friend "mike" were verbally assaulted because we looked at a black man when he was walking past. I am sorry, but anyone wearing a gigantic fat albert face as a sweater is yearning for attention, and yet when they get it all i get is grief. Why is it that soo much of the middle and lower class citizens of the country must fall into the stereotypical roles that they do. I mean come on, it is not as though these clothes come cheap, they are, as a matter of fact, more expensive than some of the hollister, j crew and soccer jerseys i wear, and yet with an apperance comes an attidude, for the most part of the people that i have encountered that have come off as a scar on society have been "minorities". however when you look at the statistics according to the most recent census, me, a middle class, white, single male is now a minority, so why is it that with affirmitive action, and all the social welfare plans in place in this country must (for instance) a black man choose a path of the ghetto thug as opposed to the go-forward single businessman that they could be?

I am sorry if i come off as an asshole, but the fact that people abuse the past in order to bitch about the future has created a growing resent for those that neglect the system. Most of these people have the ability to move ahead, i have personally seen it happen, so why dont more people embrace it?

stereotypes

if one white, young male steals my money, and then another

Then I assume all white males steal money, and I will hate them forever.

see i used to agree with all of you, then i lived it, i worked inner city health care for a couple of months and of the majority of the population which came in, the majority were hispanics and african americans who had no medical or psychological problems whatsoever, and were just trying to abuse the system to find a place to stay after their halfway house put them back out into society.

Bad parenting!

Someone's Father had a belief, based on what he was taught by his father....and so the offsping learned.

im a republican, however i do believe some form of welfare is in order, however i do believe that the welfare we have now is a waste of taxpayers money

A few months ago a black woman was caught on welfare, when she was making sales on million dollar properties in minneapolis. My god, the bizzatch was abusing welfare to get an easy few hundred a week.

Bah! Diversity has to do with ideas, not the color of the skin, or lifestyles, or rigid dogma.
The few who think apart from the masses are as rare as they have ever been.

BTW, now that we're being honest... since everyone is indirectly from Africa, can I claim myself as an African American to apply for financial aid?

The fact that they're minorities has nothing to do with it. That's like saying that certain people are genetically predisposed towards poverty and/or certain types of behavior, which just isn't true.

It's all been a process in the making for decades/centuries. Think of it all as a big, self-reciprocating circle. Using the inner city as an example: people that grow up in the inner city are told by those around them that they've somehow been cheated. Academic achievement is widely scorned, while criminal activity is glorified. As such, many youths fall into the belief that they must steal/cheat/what have you to get ahead. Their lack of motivation in obtaining an education makes this self-fulfilling prophecy come true. They then pass this mentality onto their children.

This is why whenever you meet someone coming from an impoverished childhood that has found a way to succeed, they almost always speak of either a strong family network (a mother who whooped their azz, a grandma who wouldn't let them go outside without doing their homework, etc.), some other type of organization (boys' and girls' club, etc.) as their reason for overcoming their environment.

It just so happens that many of the people living in this type of environment are minorities. It does NOT mean that blacks, hispanics, or any other groups of people are genetically bound for crime, failure, etc. It's all just a matter of environment.

Stereotyping.

Its not just the minorities that abuse the welfare system. A lady that was working for my mom just got arrested a few weeks back for welfare fraud. This lady was making 30-35k a year collected child support, alimony, and drove an 99 Audi A4. Turns out that for 2 years she had been doctoring her pay stubs to show her pay as about a 1/3 of her actual. She applied for welfare in her maiden name. Her car was in her moms name, and child support and alimony was paid to her directly from her ex in her married name deposited into seperate account.
She was getting housing assistance from HUD, and grub stubs and a cash allowance from the state. She got busted because she used the wrong deposit slips and the welfare dept caught it during a routine audit. Now shes going to jail and has to pay back like 14k plus fines.
