I might be getting me one for cheap, but I know the celeron is way to slow for me. So What type of upgrade can I look forward to?

I know this. Socket 479(mPGA). The only thing that I really wonder about is the bus speed, will it only take 400mhz cpus?

If none then ill just get a different laptop.

Thanks.

My old 600m had a 1.4 Ghz Pentium M in it. I think they went up to 1.6 or 1.7Ghz.

Banias and Dothan were two generations of Pentium M's in the 600m, IIRC. Not sure if older 600ms can take Dothan chips. In any case you can probably get a Banias Pentium M that will be faster than the Celeron.

According to the manual, you can use any 400MHz Pentium M. I believe they originally shipped with Banias cores, but you might be able to go with a Dothan Pentium M.

Thanks guys.

Well CPU-Z says a it is a Dothan. Also where is a good place to buy them, I see newegg does not sell them anymore. And I would prefer no to deal with ebay.

Well.... if you can't find them through retail channels, which isn't unexpected, then your best bet would be the secondary market - ebay, FS/FT forums, craigslist, etc.....

Definitely Pentium M "Banias" processors and possibly Pentium M "Dothan" processors, provided it is a 400MHz FSB. Use google to see what kind of processors people are using in their 600m.

Dell helped me out. Well there site anyway.
the 735's, and 745's work just f

Intel says the 745's have a TDP of 7.5 watts??? Is that true? If so im sold.

It really depends on how Intel measures TDP - but I though <10W is considered ULV. I thought it was more along the lines of 15-25W TDP.

Look for them on ebay. I've bought many laptop CPU's there without a problem, and if you shop carefully, Pentium M's are very cheap, especially anything below 2.0GHz.
