I didn't think it was a Celeron int he xBox... I thought it was a modified P3 to meet the needs of the system. I'm pretty sure that's what it was. I'll have to find where I read that.
*EDIT* Looking at some specs, I guess it's a mobile celeron... 733 Mhz... odd.

It's actually a Coppermine core Pentium III w/ only 128kb L2 cache.
Although it is similar to both, as it has the L2 cache size of a Celeron but the FSB and 8-way set associative cache of the P3, it is technically neither a Celeron nor a P3.Originally posted by: Ecliptic

As things have gone now, each new system is just a little more then twice as fast as the previous one. And FYI, it is already decided that AMD is going to make the cpu for xbox, im guessing they will use an athlon xp 1500 or 1600. perhaps modified to run cooler.
This is true... But they also need to take supply into consideration. (Who can supply the amount of product necessary.)Originally posted by: Schadenfroh
since microsoft will loose money on the console, they will use something that they can buy for very cheap. It will also need to not produce much heat.
