What CPU to choose

I have a problem. I am building a gamming PC for myself. I want to spend under $3,000. I know I want the AMD 64 4000+ but I don't now which one. Bceause they have the Clawhammer chipset and the new Rev E San Diego chipset. The San Diego is a 90nm CPU which is good but the Clawhammer isn't. But the Clawhammer is more $. Which one is better for games and what CPU cooler cools a CPU the most and isn't Vaporchill or liquid cooled? Also what memory is best for games because I have found it difficult to find an answer on this. I want it for games mainly and to be 1GB. I am also going to be using the MSI K8N SLI board. And I have two more questions not related to this exact forum but I thought I might as well get all my question in one thing. Which case is best for air cooling? I was think Li-Lian PC-v1100. And what aftermarket air cooler is best for one 7800 GTX? Well thanks for the help.

Welcome Waddles.

Did you look into the last high end buyers guide already? You will find a lot of interesting info on this site. Best thing to start with is look into what has already been discussed and reviewed. Please do yourself a favour and do not forget about a good PSU and read: the ultimate "do i need a 24pin PSU ?" thread

Boy do I envy you. I wouldn't call a 2000-2500 budget a problem 😀 With a budget like that you could look into the 3800+ X2. Good luck.

Well okay that solves my CPU problem. But the 3800+ X2 isn't as good as the 4000+ as far as games go which is my main concern. Now I just need to know what VGA and CPU coolers are the best as far as no Vapochill and liquid but just fans, heatsinks, etc. And I'm still not sure what case is the best for air cooling. What do you guys/girls think of the Li-Lian PC-V1100? Is it a good choice? Is there better out there that is cheaper or only a little more money? Thanks for the help.

Oh ya and I was thinking of the Antec NeoPower which is 480 watts and what memory is best for gaming? I have read many things about this to but can't get a straight answer. I just need 1GB but I want it to be the best there is for now as far as games go and reliablity. Thanks again.
