what cpu,ram should i get

i bought a ga-7n400pro2 400fsb board ,i already got a xp1500 chip and a matroxg550 which i'd like to use .is there much benefit with high end cpu and ram in general for a non -gamer or should i stick with xp1500 and pc2100 ram

If your not gaming, or doing video editing type things, then that will likely be more than enough.
