Most of them are, actually I've never seen one that wasn't. Yes you can use them in any socket A mobo, to my knowledge. I just like them cause you don't need to mess with super glue and deffoger paint. And, they'll take more heat than an XP!!!

Sorry to burst the bubble, but you need to quit talking in terms of 100 percent stable....It sounds like you want a guarantee..There are no guarantees in ocing. You could get an 1600+ agoia chip and it could max out at 1700mhz and you wont get 166fsb to lock down 1/5 divider. You could get even worse....You could get an 1800+ and do 166fsb...It is just the luck of the draw...

You need to not "plan" on highest oc...hope for conservative average and work from there...trust me you may be disappointed.

It looks great, those MP`s are for sure really good to overclock😉

But MPs are a lot more expensive than XPs, so it kind of defeats the purprose of OC'ing - you could just buy a faster XP.

I can't get Windows to load after my FSB goes higher than 149MHz...I have an AGOIA core. Anyone have any ideas to get it higher or am I stuck?

It might help if you gave us some info like:

What CPU do you have?
If your CPU is unlocked, what multiplier did you set it at to achieve 149MHz?
What kind of RAM do you have?
What HSF are you using?
What motherboard do you have?
What are your temps like?

Sorry about that, I'm kinda tired an not thinking straight...I have an Athlon XP 1800+ (locked) AGOIA core, an Abit NV7-133R (horrible for overclocking), and the memory I have currently is a stick of PNY Optima RAM with Infinion chips on it, the only reason I have the PNY RAM in is because I'm waiting for my Crucial memory to come back. My idle temps accoriding the Winbond HD Doctor when OC'ed to 1713.5MHz are 44.50 C idle, 47-48 full load, running with a TT Volcano 7. PS is a 330W Enermax. Hope this helps...

Temps and PSU look OK, what speed is your RAM? I'm guessing its either your RAM or board.

😎I'd agree with the ram or board. You're getting close to XP2100+ speed with a locked core, not bad. If you unlocked it you might get a little more speed but you could raise your fsb considerably, if your ram doesn't give out. IMHO

I have a Soltek Sl-75DRV5(with 1600+AGOIA). I thought it had the 1/5 divider I can't get it to go to load OS(WinXP) @ 166FSB. It goes to the post screen and stops (del won't get me to BIOS, either). I worked it up from 150 FSB until my video card flaked out @162. I have a stick of Corsair XMS2700 (512) and I've tried all voltage settings (AGP/Memory/Core). Am I fighting a losing battle here?

I saw some reviews on this board that capped @150FSB. I've done better than that but I'm trying to get the 1/5 divider for stability AND speed.
What am I effing up on? I have recent BIOS T1.3 now. I had an overclocking BIOS before this (OC1.2 beta, I think-of course I WASN'T OCing then!)

I "downgraded" from an 1800+ to reap the rewards of the 1600+ overclocked@166...not yet!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the thread Mk1980. To answer your question, I think the 1600+ from newegg -just not for me...yet (I hope)!🙂
