I bought a Amd Athlon 64 4000+ (San Diego) and i want to overclock it from 2.4ghz to at least 2.8ghz thats why i want a new cpu heatsink.. Which one should i get? Post the links below please...

Just curious whats better than stock heatsink of the 4000+ or an Opteron heatsink?

Scythe Ninja and a Slo Flo 12cm should give you near silence and really good temps... google it your self 😛

The Scythe Ninja is at the top of the hill as far as air cooling goes, but the Thermalright XP-120 is another good choice.

Tt Big Typhoon isnt bad either, I overclocked my X2 4400 the other day and it still ran relatively cool like a champ, downside is the install but otherwise pretty decent.

I think Tuniq Tower has now taken the lead.

"in terms of performance per noise ratio."

With what fans? I thought the purpose of reviewing heatsinks is todo it w/o fans anyway, so you get a review on the HS and nothing else.

the ninja might be slightly ahead in cooling the actual cpu compared to competitors, but because it's a tower, it provides less cooling to the VRMs, MOSFETs, etc., and that could seriously affect your OC'ing performance. For just a few degrees loss, I would get an SI-120 and mount a nexus or some other quiet fan on it, along with a 120mm power supply fan and a 120mm back exhaust fan helping it out.

I have an xp-120 on my 3700+ San Diego with just a cheapy fan I had laying around and let me tell you, it cools great. I'm running 2.9ghz with idles about 38 and a load that never surmounts 50.
