Right now (and for the foreseeable future), a 3700X or 5600X when they are around the $270 price. The 3600 would be an option if it was sub $200, but it hasn't been that low since the whole shortage thing started.Hey fellas. I know, dum question. However, I’m still using old sandy bridge cpu right now. Im looking at grabbing an x470 board from a friend. What’s the best bang for buck amd cpu for it?
I think its an msi x470 gaming plus or something like that.
The 5000G line up is on the CPU support list. That's a nice board. It's most recent BIOS is at AGESA 1.2.0.2 (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X470-GAMING-PLUS#down-bios) which supports current Ryzen 5000 series, but AFAIK doesn't support the new 5000G series or the Vermeer-B2 stepping for V-Cache yet.
Almost bought it. Considering no tax or shipping cost, it is a bargain. Also I just noticed there is a 3700X being sold by a member here in FS/T forum for $210.
I've got one kicking around here too. Want it?Almost bought it. Considering no tax or shipping cost, it is a bargain.
I am more excited about the 5600G. I don't know what it is with integrated graphics, I definitely have a thing for them. Going back to when companies like SiS, ATI, S3, and nVidia were putting them on boards in the early part of the century. I mean they are hot garbage at gaming in the scheme of things, but there is something fun about discovering what they can do.I've got one kicking around here too. Want it?
We hijacked this thread, but it seems like it ran its course so no harm no foul? I hope. And is the only difference between the 3500 and the X, that the X has 32MB L3 instead of 16?If I come across a 3500(X) , I'll toss that in for free, you can compare with the 5600G.
Ain't it always the way? I don't know how many times I have done the 300 at the hot gates routine where he shouts - HOLD!....HOLD!... and then cave a bit too early.Of course I finally break down and buy a 3700X from B&H Photo two weeks ago, and now it seems like everyone is trying to get rid of theirs!![]()
Whoops. Anyways, not really sure, but I'm guessing that you're probably correct. I think both 3500 and 3500X are 6C/6T.We hijacked this thread, but it seems like it ran its course so no harm no foul? Nice! Feel kinda dumb nowThe 5000G line up is on the CPU support list.

Nah man, it's all good. You said you were not certain. It is not like you asserted to the negative. And the page layout MSI uses is garbage. You have to use the side panel to access the CPU support list.Nice! Feel kinda dumb now![]()
