Hey there all,

I'd like to get a few more miles off my computer, and would appreciate your help.

What is the max CPU I can get with these specs?

- ABIT BX6 rev. 1
- Corsair PC100 RAM,
- Slot 1 CPU recepticle
- A Celeron 366 (socket 370??) running at 66Mhz because I overclocking crashes my system
- IWill "Slotket" to adapt my Socket 370 (?) CPU to Slot 1

The Abit manual hasn't been updated in a few years, and they say the max CPU I can use is a PII/400Mhz with the 100Mhz External Clock Speed.

Should I try to get a Slot 1 CPU running with a 100Mhz External Clock Speed??

Welcome to Anandtech!

You can get an Upgradeware Slot-T adapter for ~ $20 and a Celeron 1.4 GHz CPU for ~ $60. Nice upgrade from 366 MHz!

What's the profile of those things? I only have a few inches between my motherboard and the power supply.

Have you used one?

The Tually heatsink/fan is actually shorter than a Coppermine model. Yes I've used one. Look at the BH6 thread. There is a guy somewhere in there that is running one on a BX6 r1.
