What country could invade US soil and completely pull an Iraq on us?

I was playing Call of Duty and started to wonder this...

Is there any country out there that you think would be capable to land on US soil, and just totally Iraq us into oblivion? Or is our land so protected, that we are 100% immune to any sort of foreign invasion?

I am not talking small scale stuff -- I am talking a full scale destruction of our major cities, killing innocent people/puppies and just blatantly ravaging our land, making it barren for centuries to come.

The only 2 countries that pop in my mind is (#1) Israel, since they know all of our secrets and have the hardware/skilled troops, or Russia, who probably has ton of military equipment well hidden in the snow caps there or something. They could probably start their invasion in Alaska as a starting point.

What does ATOT think?

The only way another country could absolutely demolish the USA is if they nuked us into oblivion. Everyone knows this.

Are you talking conventional or nuclear?

Conventional: No one
Nuclear: Maybe Russia but they would glow just as green if not more so

No one has anyway to get their troops over here*

*taking into consideration naval strength

One country couldn't do it. All of Europe plus Russia would be scary. Or China plus some others.

The idea of Israel doing it is crazy beyond description. They have a lot of quality but very little quantity and almost no navy to even get here.

The big problem for anyone trying to do this is the USN. You can divide the USN into 3 and probably have the first, second and third most powerful navies in the world. Nobody else has supercarriers.

Israel and Russia have plenty of Jets also. I am sure they have skilled enough pilots that a few would easily make into US airspace.

I think it would be quite a stretch for Israel to get their planes over here since they lack any type of intercontinental strike ability.

I dont think Russia has enough planes with the legs to be able to make a dent in the air defense over the US

If Russia decided to launch every troop carrying aircraft, and every submarine they had, I am sure that they could at least reach our borders, and get a small foothold on some areas of our country.

Maybe an alliance between countries could do it also.

Hard to imagine anyone gets their troops over here.

If they did (a hugely impossible "if), hard to imagine anyone gets their troops outside on isolated area of the country. Say, surprise landing in Florida, that might cause a shitstorm down in southeastern Florida but Tallahasse probably won't give a fuck and its residents will watch the carnage on the evening news while munching on a bag of Doritos.

A few submarines carrying nuke warheads can take out a supercarrier with ease from miles away.

See the thing that gets me, is I believe the USA could go out and pick ANYWHERE in the world, and we'd be able to have tens of thousands of ground soldiers on any solid ground in the planet within hours.

It's really hard to believe that no other country could do that to us...

They not only don't have enough nukes they don't have a Navy that could get all those screaming Chinamen over here. Even if they did there is no way with today's technology they could pull a Jap attack like Pearl Harbor without being detected and blown out of the water.

And then be completely, totally unable to resupply them and they would all die or surrender. They would eventually be outnumbered like 1000 to 1. It takes massive logistics to sustain an invasion, for each soldier on the ground you need mucho supplies, much more than you would think. They need food, bullets, mortar rounds, artillery rounds, medical supplies, water.

If that doesn't convince you, think of all the heavily armed rednecks looking to kill commies.

My guess would be China by using cargo ships for an initial attack, since so much of USA imports come from China. Sustaining an invasion with reinforcements would be tougher. Even loading troops and equipment into cargo ships would be a challenge with satellites watching troop movements.
