Upon further research, there is, in fact a Mississauga, California. It's near Hollywood. I was wrong. Though I would have been more pissed about it going to Canada than Cali.

California has a Mississauga and an Ontario. Hmmm, seems as though Cali is trying to imitate our neighbors to the North.
