On e one of my cars when I turn to the left I hear a horrible/loud noise. I am assuming it is maybe a wheel bearing and I was going to replace the hub assembly but before I do I would like to see if it might be something else. It is on a Scion XA

Bad wheel bearings usually make a constant sound that gets more noticeable with speed. A bad CV joint usually makes a clicking sound during turns.
Hard tell to without actually hearing the car.

Your going to have to jack up the car and check. Check the wheel for up/down movement. If you have movement it's probably your wheel bearing. If ok, take off the wheel and check the brake heat shield and brake pads. Check the wheel well for any signs of wear too.
