I'm not sure the proper forum for asking about unexplained magnets in computers. Feel free to move.
My TV computer failed with a BIOS fan error message. I opened it up and nothing seemed wrong, but I ordered a new fan. Yesterday when I replaced the fan, I found this square magnet inside the case attached to the VGA port. I've had this computer for about 9 years and only opened the case these two times. I do not recognize the magnet. The magnet is about 1/4 inch square and about 1/16 inch thick. It has either CY or GY marked in a side. Any ideas of the magnet source?
Since I opened the computer twice, I don't know if it came from the computer or if I dropped it in somehow from somewhere. The computer now works fine.
