What could these bugs be?

These things started showing up around the end of summer. About half an inch to an inch. Maybe a beetle-type thing, spade-shaped, dull tan/light grey-brown, antenna, and they can fly. As far as I can tell, they're relatively harmless (as in, not retaliating when I flick them away), but every day I find more of them around my open windows.

What could they be ? I live in the Mid-Atlantic (VA), if that helps.

I'm looking through the pics over at whatsthatbug.com, but has anyone else seen these things before and know what they are?

Japanese beatle or june bug?

I don't have a camera . Anyways, the pics of Japanese beetles and june bugs don't really match. The bugs I'm seeing are a dull mottled grey/tan, not shiny at all. Also, the back end is a little pointy, not rounded.

i have no idea where they come from either. all my windows are closed too!

Looks like the ones I have in my house are the 9th one on this page ("Tree Stink Bug"). I found a couple of them crawling around inside the pouch I keep my PSU cables in .
