What could I use to transfer video from my Direct TV / TIVO unit to my PC/DVD burner ?

I did a search and dint find too much other than expensive options . Is there anything that I can buy (prefer a USB connection) to do this ? Id like the video quality to be close to TV and or what a VHS recording would be . Thanks .

yea I want such a thing too for the same thing. I have DirecTV and TIVO and want to get it onto my laptop for flights. As far as I have seen so far it looks like the ATI USB 2.0 TV wonder is the best option at this point. Today the problem is that there is little to nothing that does not do the TV tuning and just does encoding from RCA jacks.

I'd get a ATI thing but they are more money than I am willing to spend.

I read a little about it but would I need seperate software to capture with or does this thing do it ?

that is an excelent question. I do not know. It is so biased towards TV tuning.
