What could cause a website to suddenly go down for me

Arg this is absolutely infuriating. I was working on my website, hosted at Dreamhost and suddenly I could no longer connect to any of my domains. It's been down for a couple of hours now. I checked http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ and it seems to be working fine. Connected through a proxy site, no problems. I tried changing my DNS to OpenDNS (and flushed my DNS cache), it didn't help. This is fucking infuriating, I have work that I need to get done and I can't do it.

I have tried:
Ping - time out every time

Tracert -
Tracing route to martindoms.com [66.33.195.128]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.1

Proxy - works fine

I'm at a total loss. I've lost web, FTP and SSH access. What more can I do? I contacted both ISP and Dreamhost support, haven't heard back and don't expect I will until tomorrow. I need to get this shit done. Sorry about the language but I'm extremely frustrated.

The site is http://martindoms.com or http://iamaelephant.net or http://beta.martindoms.com or http://svn.martindoms.com

Just got an email back from Dreamhost, my IP was indeed blocked. They were able to get me back online within 30 mins of my initial email. But now I'm blocked again, less than half an hour after getting back online. I don't know WTF is going on, waiting for an email back from DH.

It might be a good time to do a virus/worm/trojan/malware scan of your system.

Maybe even try an external scanner, in case yours has been compromised.

Their security is seeing something in your session that it doesn't like (well, duh! ... I know, sorry); something like a virus/worm/trojan (check the files you are uploading) would be the most likely suspect (or, manybe it thinks you are trying to attack from the inside).

Let us know when you find out

Good Luck
